A short drive with a taxi from Camps Bay to Cape Town on the 19th of Jan. Check in at the Long Street Hotel
a very peculiar avantgard view from our balcony
We made our way into town
and ended up in Woodstock at the the Old Biscuit Mill for a lunch
The evenings we spent at the Buena Vista Social Cafe which was a convenient place for us to start our
nightly adventures on Long Street
A lunch at the Pot Luck Club is a must if you enjoy to try something different to digest!
What about a Thai Martini and a Chilli Pineapple as a starter...
This is one of the most exciting restaurants I've been to. A relaxing enviroment, excellent food and good service!
Our dessert "Heavens Bacon"
compensated the view
A visit to the Waterfront is a worhtwhile effort if you go there by foot or taxi...
We had a nice lunch at the Quay Four where husbands seem to disappear !?!
Waterfront is where the charm of the historical harbour meets the modern shopping experience
and the gaps in between are filled with more leisure actitivies than you can count on both hands!
In the evening we returned here to have a fine dining at the Baia Seafront Restaurant
Next day Martina took us to Hout Bay Market for a lunch in the sunshine
This is a place I also would like to return to - Hout Bay Market!!!
next stop Martina took us to was The Roundhouse
where we had a sundowner at The Rumbullion
This beautiful day ended at the Cafe Paradiso with an exquisite dinner and a bottle of wine! Thanks Martina
Early next morning we visited the castle
The gateway to the castle - a bastion fort which was used as a prison between 1899 - 1902
To my mind this is a place to visit only if you have a great interest in architecture
King Langalibalele of AmaHlubi 1814 -1889 and Doman of Goring-haiqua 1618-1663 imprisoned
King Cetshwayo of AmaZulu 1826-1884 and King Sekhukune of BaPedi 1814-1882 imprisoned
This is a pool designed by Willem Adriaan van der Stel, a bit greenish for me to have a swim in...
and a woman with very big hands...
There was not really much to see than deserted buildings and vast empty squares
They have a museum and even this was not very interesting but as they say on their homepage
they are renovating so maybe there will be a change in the near future - here some funny vessels
and figures
with manicured hands I was prepared for the 5 days trip with Rovos Rail!
