Wake up on the 14th of Jan. at the Mövenpick Hotel in Dubai made us unhappy because of the view and the sound.
In front of the hotel was this construction site, so in a very short time you will not be able to see the
ocean from this hotel anymore
but their restaurant made us cheerful again and we had a very nice lunch before we headed off into town by foot
We went to the mall where I saw these blue (?!) indian threadthin fishes before I exchanged my voucher for a
ticket which entitled me to go up to the top of Burj Khalifa - Thanks Hans!
When you ´re on the top of the world everything looks very tiny, somewhere down there Hans is sipping wine.
After Dubai we left for Camps Bay in South Africa and stayed at the Atlantic House, a very nice four star hotel.
The weather was nice so we directly started to go for a discovery tour and on the way we saw The Lions Head
and a splendid view over Camps Bay
Our discovery tour ended down at the ocean and I was very sceptical about the things behind me in the water
Help they look like snakes! But it turned out to be the harmless Ecklonia Maxima, sea bamboo a species of kelp
Hans and a fraction of the Twelwe Apostles Mountain Range in the horizon
We took a taxi which took us along the Chapman's Peak Drive with its 114 curves
and is considered to be one of the most spectacular marine drives in the world
and I can guarantee you that it was an amazing and dramatic and very windy experience
We went to Boulders Beach and said hello to the Jackass penguins which settled here in 1982.
A nice lunch at the restaurant gave us new energy to go to the next adventure
which was to the Cape of Good Hope
where father ostrich welcomed us instead of all the baboons we had been warned about
and then we started to make the walk in the wind
up the winding stairs to the top
from where you have a beautiful view over the oceans
and you get a lot of information about the world's destinations
safely down again commemorating the latitude
and longitude all accompanied by the wind!
Trekking day! First stage
Dave, Gaby, Hans and our guide Margaret Curran
on our way to Echo Valley
Black Girlded Lizard is my name!
I am called the everlasting paperflower
and my name is Crassula coccinea
on the top of the Tafelberg
me happy to have made it to the top and Hans nervous about
taking the cable car down - Table Moutain a place I would like to go back to!
The last day in Camps Bay went to the beach for a nice swim but it turned out to be to cold for us
