Arrival in Kuala Lumpur Brunei Sandakan Langkawi Departure Kuala Lumpur To the bottom
Hotel Majestic built in 1932 is a colonial heritage and a national tresure of the neo-classical and
art deco style. I liked the atmosphere and the very friendly and serviceminded staff.
The late afternoons we spent in their Smoke House and played pool which was very nice
(and yes, you were allowed to smoke inside)
From our hotelroom we had a view of the PNB118 which is still under construction and the
beautiful former Railway Station of KUL. Contrasts!
and the Holy Rosary Chuch in the Neo-Gothic style in between countless modern-style office towers and hotels
Hang in there!
The Tugu Negara (National Monument). The bronze sculputer was casted in a foundry in Rome and
the stones that the soldiers are standing and laying on are imported from Sweden
A bit skyline and me
We continued our discovering tour on the heritage trail
which was not so very interesting so we continued to China town
and had an excellent lunch at Hawker Chan on 135 Jalan Petaling
Rice and pork ribs, best ribs I have ever eaten
After lunch we went to the Berjaya Times Square to cool down in the airconed shopping centre
where we found this emergency exit door with padlock - let´s get out!
Back on the streets of construction!
A visit to the Masjid Negara - the National Mosque
which can accomodate up to 15.000 worshippers during prayers
Over and out
Next the Muzium Kesenian Islam Malaysia
We started our tour with admiring paintings of Reem Nazir who had her exhibition
Hajj - Journey Through the Ages
A scale model of Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Complex in Abu Dhabi
one of many in the architecture gallery
Quarnic folios on vellum in the manuscript gallery
My husband checked out the arms gallery
and me ancient footwear
headgears and neckless in another gallery
This is a very interesting and well-kept museum and I also did some shopping!
This was our last day. The flight back home was due to 23.00 hrs so there was plenty of spare time
to do something with so we took a teksi
Advanced pricing
back to Mr Chan on Petaling Street in Chinatown
After lunch a visit to the Sri Mahamariamman hindu temple before we took a taxi back to the hotel.
Taxi is the safest way to get from A to B in KUL because the infrastructure for pedestrians
is a disaster!
On our way to the airport we listened to Mr Caligagan, our Swedish friend from Nice
Finally back!
