Rome Naples Palermo To the bottom
Hotel Locarno at via della Penna 22 was established in 1925 and is the place to stay in when you are in Rome!
The movies "Hotel Locarno" and "The Trip" are inspired by this hotels beautiful enviroment.
I know it is not a good photo but just to remind myself of this delicious "Amatriciana"
which I had for lunch in their restaurant before we went out in the rain to visit
the Castel Sant´Angelo or if you prefer to call it Masoleum of Hadrian
which once was the tallest building in Rome
It is a towering cylindrical building in Parco Adriano
From the top you can study the flow of the river Tiber
which unfortunately nowadays has become filthy by neglection of the city administration
Sadly the rain kept on but I can imagine this view of the Vatican City on a sunny day
We greeted the Archangel Michael who stands on the top of the castle to protect it from evilness
Today the Sant Angelo Castle is a museum and you can visit all the papal apartments
LENTE FESTINA means "more haste, less speed" - "Eile mit Weile"
In the museum you encounter many beautiful paintings
The tomb of Hadrianus together with boxes once filled with valuable objects
The sky started to turn dark and we were out in the rain again on the St Peters Square on the way
for our evening meal at the Vecchia Osteria del Gelsomino
which serves delicious Pasta Carbonara, after that we went back to the hotel to digest
Next morning we went out in the sunshine !!! and had a look at the restorated Fontana di Trevi
We had a look in the very beautiful Galleria Alberto Sordi where we found this nice car
After that off to Fiaschetteria Beltramme one of the most historic and authentic hole-in-the-wall places in Rome
where we met Maria and Kristina for lunch
and again had a Pasta Carbonara!
which made us very happy
Maria showed us the Galleria Sciarra a hidden gem richly decorated with beautiful frescoes and ornaments
before it was time to say Ciao! Next day off to Naples
