Going to Ivalo to celebrate Li´s 30th birthday on the 24 of December 2017
We started our adventure with an early flight from Copenhagen to Helsinki
Check in at the GLO Hotel Art which is an old castle in the middle of the Design District
next to Helsinki city centre
Comfy!

before we went to visit the Christmas Market Tuomaan Markkinat
in front of the beautiful big Helsinki Cathedral
The Glögi was very cheap! We had some but it was WITHOUT alcohol!!!
Next morning we climbed up to the Cathedral
Believe it or not this is the morning light of Helsinki
and in the afternoon we went to the Löyly Sauna
It was freezing outside but inside it was warm and cosy
and of course we rounded up our last day in Helsinki with a visit to their Hard Rock Cafe
Next day we took an early flight to Ivalo
We were very excited
it looked cold
Our first adventure
You have to dress properly!
and off we go!
The adventure did not last for long because the heating system did not work in the sleigh

Dissapointed we went back to our glass-roofed cabins
We stayed at the Northern Lights Village´s
and had a rest before
we in the darkness went to
the mainbuilding for some supper and wine
and after that a walk in the dark back to our cabins for a nights rest

In the evening we went to the Ice Bar and Restaurant
built entirely of ice and snow
Like an ice king on the ice throne
or queen
In the company of only candle lights
you can enjoy an artic dining - don´t forget your gloves!
It was really fun to dine in minus celsius. You have to eat fast to enjoy the hot meal!
After the excellent meal we went back in the darkness to our cabins
and enjoyed the star-painted sky without the Aurora
Our last wake up in this special place
I had a look at Li´s and Magnus cabin and was happy not to always be living like this
With a "crazy" busdriver on the way to the airport in 100 km/h on this icy road. Hold on to your hat!
Time over, going back home!
